How Are Composite Fillings Placed?

Composite fillings are easy to place and their placement is usually completed in a single appointment. If the affected tooth has any decay or cavity, it will be carefully removed and the tooth surface will be disinfected using antimicrobials and disinfecting solutions. The tooth’s surface will then be etched and prepared to receive the filling. The composite filling will then be prepared from a mixture of powdered glass and acrylic resin and will be carefully placed in layers. Each layer is shaped with great precision and then hardened using a special blue light. Finally, the tooth will be polished to restore it to its natural shape and function.
